At the end of 2017, Samsung released a new and improved version of its memory cards, with Samsung deciding to do a little rebranding and replacing the "+" in the name with "plus". Among the target devices for using the new memory cards are action cameras and drones.
The Samsung EVO Plus 2018 memory card again relies on V-NAND memory with 48 layers, which is used for example in the Portable SSD T3, providing not only good performance but also high reliability. Overall read and write speeds have improved by 15-20% on average.
The new EVO Plus cards can also withstand up to 72 hours in salt water (IPX7 certification) and operate in a temperature range from -25 °C to 85 °C. The cards are not affected by magnetic fields, X-rays and are insensitive to X-rays from airport baggage control systems.
